STEM and Math for Winslow Classes

My Project

I am a new teacher (only three years), however I have loved teaching all my life. I have seen over and over that hands on Science and Math improve understandings and deeper connections to the required materials that students are required to learn. I come from a low income school district. My students cannot afford internet let alone access to the many physical manipulatives for applying what they are learning to real world or practical applications.

I want to provide physical supplies for my students to use to apply their learning.

I want them to be able to use divergent thinking as well as convergent thinking with these supplies to solve problems and promote higher order thinking. I want to safely challenge my students to think beyond what they have learned and experiment on the best solutions to problems and questions.

With the learning loss and gaps caused by the pandemic, I would use these supplies to review and reteach my students key skills they need for fourth grade. I would also share these resources with my fellow fourth grade team and SPED department for hands on activities for the entire grade level to access and use.
