Young children need to be able to learn through play and discovery every day. Their future will be filled with challenges and we need to make our classrooms a rich environment filled with materials that will teach them to work collaboratively and engage their growing minds.
I believe that the more positive exposure students have to various STEM materials and projects, the more they are able to progress in the love of learning.
My class loves to work collaboratively on projects and ask questions about how things work. They and would greatly benefit from being able to explore and learn through these engaging materials. We currently have limited STEM materials in our classroom, but what we do have, the kids truly love.
My Project
Our school is one that prides itself on our passion for and dedication to STEM learning. We do not have the funding available to purchase materials needed to provide our students with the STEM background that we want them to have.
In my first grade classroom I see the love of creating and building and want to help nurture that passion so that they will learn problem solving skills to help them throughout their lives.
With your donation to our project, my students will have so many opportunities to build and problem solve using these high quality and highly motivational STEM challenge kits. They will work to solve problems for fairy tale characters such as building a strong house for the 3 little pigs or a bridge for the billy goats Gruff, they will learn about motion, magnets, and how to make vehicles that can move. They will have the opportunity to create habitats and pathways for the Hexbugs to travel and find ways to make them more secure.
