This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school has 1500 students from 5-11 years old, who range from at-risk readers to accomplished readers who do not have enough choices of non-fiction text in their classroom library to consistently peek their interest. They are wonderful children who keep teachers on their toes to stay engaged. My school does our best to help and give support to students at all levels of reading.
The more you read, the better you get, the better you get, the more you read!
This motto is important to our students' success. However often the students are tired of textbooks and school-type books and want to find success with engaging materials in Book Clubs.
My Project
This project provides multiple copies of books based on STEM topics, such as animals, math, water, and space to classroom libraries. Reading materials on STEM topics in classrooms supports literacy, while engaging students in math and science ideas and learning.
The more students read and have conversations.
with their peers, about STEM topics the more they learn and want to learn! Students are able to read these topics, have book conversations with others about the same book and topic, and share their books with others.
Our goal is to have many books to provide appealing choices to every student on our classrooms.
