Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have had the privilege to teach grades 6, 5, 4 and 3. This year, I get the wonderful opportunity to work with 4th graders, of which many are English Language Learners (ELLs).

At this juncture of the school year, we have established a culture of kindness and respect.

We also celebrate and honor the diverse languages and cultures among us.

I would like to continue to engage my students in critical thinking and foster collaboration and teamwork, especially as it relates to the field of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

My Project

STEM activities will allow my students to integrate subjects in ways that connect disciplines. They also inherently teach perseverance, ingenuity, and camaraderie as students engage in problem-solving. These activities will transcend into increased academic performance and sense of accomplishment.

By donating to this project, you are helping my students develop their skills and talents to create robot models, cars and vehicles, flowering gardens, wooden homes, and other imaginary items.

Research substantiates that STEM education also builds resilience, encourage experimentation and adaption, creativity, and application of knowledge. It is my hope that these experiences will help prepare students for real life experiences in the 21st century.
