I teach in a multi-age classroom in an urban, public Montessori school. My students range in age from four to six years old and come from very diverse backgrounds. This is the first time many of the students have been in a school setting, so it is important to make their experience at a school a positive one! Throughout the day, the students work in small groups with the teacher or individually on their own materials.
"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn." -Maria Montessori
My Project
Please help me give my students new STEM activities that promote critical thinking and teamwork.
I want my students to learn how to think outside the box.
These materials will challenge my students to think in new ways. They will learn trial and error as they problem solve and work together to engineer a coaster and construct a building that can survive an earthquake. They will discover the power of magnets and which attract or repel them. They will be challenged to design different engineering centers, create a chain reaction, and build using different shape bricks.
