My Students
The beauty of this world is the Science that surrounds us. My scholars are like the most delicate Sea Sponge absorbing everything that is thrown at them. I would love to incorporate more STEM activities in our classroom to not only reinforce our Objectives but to also build their Critical Thinking Skills.
STEM activities and lesson plans benefits all students, at all levels of abilities, creating a truly inclusive effective classroom.
I teach Science to all of the 2nd graders at my school. They range in different academic readiness and abilities. These activities would allow me to meet my students at their academic readiness and ability levels. Also they have a lot of energy and what better way to use this energy than to put it towards STEM activities.
My Project
We live in a society where we are continuously growing, developing and learning is critical to success. Prior to children entering elementary school they develop a wonderful sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness, sadly it is often loss once they enter elementary school. STEM activities will continue to encourage and develop their curiosity and inquisitiveness.
STEM activities foster a life long love for learning. The Makey Makey allows you to take everyday objects and combine them with a computer and the internet.
Using the alligator clips attached to any conductive material you can control the keyboard of your computer. We could use marshmallows for instance and play the keys on a piano or Super Mario.
Squishy Circuits and Snap Circuits teach many principles of engineering and physical science, and introduce children to the components of basic circuitry including electronic flow, positive/negative poles, resistors, capacitors, serial and parallel circuitry, and many others. While children do learn these concepts in middle school, the toy’s design encourages children in inventive design and problem solving, spatial orientation, and electricity at an age when fear isn’t necessarily partnered with learning.
