Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My music students are dedicated, energetic, and hardworking learners! They love playing music and are always excited to come to class.
Many students use their personal time before and/or after school to take advantage of extra help with their music.
Over the past three years, our band and orchestra programs have grown immensely. We have many students committed to making their music classes the best they can be. Over 80% of our students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches, and we are unable to raise the funds to improve the music program on our own.
My Project
Without strings, playing the violin would be impossible! That is why I am trying to raise funds to provide my orchestra students with the string supplies needed to play in class. It is essential for my violin students to have access to high quality strings that will set them up for musical success. At my middle school, all of our string instruments are shared between all grades. Up to three students will play the same instrument in one day. That is a lot of playing which means we go through strings like crazy, especially with our violins!
I am constantly needing to replace old and broken strings so that my students can play beautiful orchestra music.
With such a tight music budget this year, we are struggling to have enough violin strings available to replace when they break. Having these violin strings stocked and ready for these situations will help my students have an instrument that they can rely on to work. It will help our music program immensely!
