Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing children who are motivated to do well in all subject areas. They attend the oldest school in California and are joyful, carefree second graders from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Our school's focus is on Literacy and Science.
These incredible second graders love to learn and deserve to be safe, active, and happy children!
In addition, these students need to be prepared for the future. Our science-focused school wants to engage these young minds in science exploration through literature, art, and hands-on fun.
We want our students to be the future leaders in science and technology by engaging them with hands-on activities and foster a love of science and inquiry.
My Project
Board games can make a big difference in my students' learning. These games can help with important brain development as they help students acquire logical and reasoning skills, improve critical thinking, while enhancing social and communication skills.
Moreover, research shows that board games help the brain retain and build cognitive associations well into old age.
Many board games require the use of motor skills by picking up and moving objects, which is important for children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Attention skills are greatly improved by making children concentrate and focus for longer periods of time. Lastly, board games can help children of all ages relax and reduce stress!
