This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I believe in you!" These are the words that hang over the doorway of my classroom. I believe that my students can do great things. I just need help getting the materials to teach them great things so that they can do great things.

I teach at an inner city school.

My students struggle with many things in their lives. They have to worry about things like gangs on the streets and not having food on the table at night. They show up to my classroom everyday asking me to teach them. I would like to provide them with that education and these books will enable them to have access to great American literature.

My Project

I would like to provide my students with two different John Steinbeck books so that we may compare and contrast the stories. I believe that these two books will give my students a look into human behavior and U.S. History that they would not be exposed to without these books.

I feel that reading and literature is a vital tool in conveying concepts and messages to my students.

They treat the new books I have brought into my class as a great gift. They take care of them and treat them as a luxury item. It shows them that I care enough to get them something special to enrich their education. They are great kids who deserve the opportunity to read great things.
