This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students come from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are a Title I school but have maintained high standards in our teaching practice to receive an A/B rating for the past 5 years! Our students will be exploring STEAM topics and love to use technology to create and explore but lack the exposure to the technology to create and share what they've learned. We have a majority of staff and students well-trained in Kagan Engagement Structures and strive for innovation, collaboration, and creativity.
My Project
Having learning centers focused on engineering and technology will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. Students will develop engineering skills with the Engino Discovery STEM kits and Lutz LEGO Contraptions that are focused on the scientific principles of simple machine, structures. Students will learn how to coding games and stories using the Bloxel kits to support their learning in the general ed. classroom while working on collaborative and critical thinking skills working in groups and learning centers with the ACER Chromebook that I am requesting and the devices already obtained in the classroom.
Our classroom is pushing towards a level comfortable familiarity with the growing technology they will require to have to meet their needs as learners.
By funding this grant, you will help our students achieve the vision of extraordinary learning for all and to close that gap just a little bit more.
