Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Some of my students are ESOL. They have a language barrier that sets them behind. They are eager to be a part of something. My students come from low income families, many of them come from broken families. A majority of my students are of Hispanic origin. Every student is special in their own unique way. My students are special because they are willing to strive higher than expected especially with the obstacles they have faced, & continue to face.
They go above & beyond.
They struggle because they are trying to understand and fit into a new culture. Parents are not able to assist them with homework or projects due to the language barrier, most parents did not attend school here in the United States. Most of my students were affected by hurricane Irma in September 2017 and are still trying to recover.
The majority of my students are being raised in single parent households and receive free or reduced lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with everyday life experiences that we consider to be normal.
My Project
They need the cricut, life saver candies, tape, drinking straws, popsicle sticks to help them advance in the project. These materials will make a difference, by giving them more creative freedom to create, and design more freely using these materials. It will allow them to remain interested in the topics being covered.
Technology and education are constantly evolving and changing every day along with the interests of my students.
My students come from low income single family homes and do not have access to these materials at home or in school. Adding these materials to my classroom will definitely help keep their interest.
By acquiring these materials their learning experience and environment will be greatly enhanced. They will be able to maintain focus and not worry about missing materials or lack of creativity.
