Help me give my students headphones and STEAM activities such as Botley the Coding Robot, Snap Circuits, and KEVA planks so they can explore learning in a meaningful and interactive way.
I work at a Title I school with some of the most wonderful children I have ever met. My students literally surprise me every day. They are some of the most inquisitive, responsible, hard-working, and emotionally strong group of third graders.
These students have inspired me to be a better person and I know as they continue to learn through collaboration, they will inspire others.
My students do not necessarily come from the best of backgrounds. Many are fighting the temptations to make some pretty poor choices. Yet, they come to school every day and work as hard as they can.
We have discussed many times that we are each born a chooser no matter our circumstances. Many of them have firm plans and dreams to change their family pattern and go to college; to do great things with their lives! I am just so grateful to be able to watch them grow into these wonderful people!
My Project
I'm requesting commonly used materials for STEAM activities for my students such as headphones, Botley the Coding Robot, Snap Circuits, and KEVA planks. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math. With this students learn to combine subjects and make the most of their learning. Every week try to incorporate as much STEAM time as possible, but we are not provided with any materials or activities. This project will allow Engineering and Technology items to be used to engage my students as well as benefit others in the school. The materials will allow for projects and ideas to be created that are commonly used in all types of projects from building structures to designing prototypes.
STEAM allows my students to use their brains in a different way while getting to show their creativity.
It is one of my students' favorite things to do, but it can get expensive to purchase everything myself. I want to be able to a creative learning space for my students now and in the future.
