Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a high poverty school in the midst of apartments and single-family homes. Over seventy five percent of the students are from low-income homes and they receive free or reduced-price lunches. I have a diverse group of students from many ethnic backgrounds.
LEGO building is their favorite activity that triggers creativity, imagination and excitement that can last hours.
It is a learning tools that my students love to dig their hands into. With LEGO pieces, the possibilities are endless.
My Project
Building with LEGO STEAM Park Set will enrich our students with problem solving, critical thinking skills, expand their creativity, and explore real-life STEAM education. Students will have picture cards that guide them to follow instructions. Students will create an imaginary theme park with dynamic rides, fun games, and scenes using a special DUPLO bricks.
This set also includes gears, motion, measurements that lets students experience early engineering skills in a fun and engaging ways.
My hope is to guide my students through a process that helps them to predict and explore, discover, and share ideas to work as a team. Since gears are used in many toys, I would like to use this concept of engineering in my class to make a LEGO wind-up toy robot that will take a sharpened pencils to students!
With your donation to this project, my students will be inspired as STEAM- minded leaders and engineers of tomorrow. Thank you for supporting our project.
