My Students
I teach STEAM to some of the most creative, curious, and innovative students. All of my students are on free lunches. Outside of school, most of the student's lives are affected by the injustice of poverty. My goal is to provide tech experiences to our students to promote 21st century learning and skills with STEAM.
My students are very innovative and creative individuals.
Often times students in our district have limited technology experience. My students will begin to discover and cultivate their creativity as they begin to apply their unique gifts and talents and allow them to become the innovators and global leaders of tomorrow with the stories they will be able to create and tell.
My Project
My students are curious learners that need a location, like our Learning Lab, to explore their passions through STEAM, PBL activities and assignments, along with stretching their imaginations and harnessing their innovation.
By transforming an area of our Learning Lab area into more of a Makerspace with a green screen studio, students will have access to materials, tools, and technologies to allow for hands-on exploration, creativity and participation learning.
All of my students are on 100% free lunches and have limited access at home to technology due to poverty. To help my students foster these essential 21st century learning skills, they need a place to make their dreams a reality in a green screen studio. I am requesting a variety of materials to help the students create, build and craft their skills: materials for a green screen studio (green screen, tripod, lenses, storage and cables, and HD microphones), along with the variety of materials they will need to make essential props to enhance their projects. The educational videos created by my students will allow them to explore multiple time periods, record their discoveries, express their creativity and make the learning more authentic by expanding their audiences with their final productions. We are also hoping to expand into a school based podcast for both students and teachers.
By adding a green screen studio to our Learning Lab will help provide the students with the materials needed so they can produce their own works of art or information and share with the community. The students can then utilize these STEAM skills on their assessments, along with carrying them into other classes here at school, college, and careers.
