STEAM Team - Inspiring Innovation and Inquiry in Elementary Classrooms
My students need Ozobots Bit Coding Robots to explore elementary level robotics and coding skills and Dremel 3D printer filament to help convert their ideas into realities.
Our school is located in a small, rural village just north of Milwaukee. We serve roughly three hundred and twenty students from various socioeconomic backgrounds in grades 4K through 5th. Our school is part of a close-knit community, and we are fortunate to have support from many parents and extended family members.
Our students amaze us with their ingenuity and initiative.
They have so many creative ideas that are just waiting to be shared with the world. This year, we began a series of workshops for grades 2 to 5 to encourage students' passions for science, technology, engineering, art and math. It is incredible to watch our learners become problem-solvers and critical thinkers as they ask questions and bring ideas from their imaginations to life.
My Project
Our world continues to grow and change at breakneck speed, and it is vital for students to learn critical thinking processes in the realms of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. Research shows that students who are introduced to STEAM concepts at an early age are better poised for success after graduation. They have the problem-solving and teamwork skills necessary to thrive in the workforce.
These amazing supplies will benefit our students as they learn about coding, printing in 3D and various other scientific concepts.
In our STEAM workshops for grades 2-5, we are excited to introduce students to the world of robotics and coding. The Ozobot robots allow students to practice basic programming, and they are a stepping stone for future work with robotics engineering.
Our elementary STEAM team has the incredible privilege of using a Dremel 3D printer, but as we've begun to print students' designs, we find that we are in need of more filament. Students get such a thrill watching their creations come to life right before their eyes.
