My students learn in a very unique setting. We are a "one room schoolhouse" style school, located in a mountainous, rural setting. My dedicated K-8 students are truly amazing to work with! They love the outdoors, being part of the small community, and learning new things.
My students are creative, compassionate individuals with a boundless enthusiasm for hands on projects.
I have seen them persevere through challenges and be inspired through a variety of academic activities and project-based learning opportunities.
My Project
My students live and learn completely off the grid. They are rural students, with limited access to services typically found in larger towns or cities. Most science/technology museums and related field trips take 2-3 hours (one way) to reach. Due to these geographic challenges that are potentially isolating for my students, I want to bring more STEAM related projects and activities to my classroom. I am asking for a 3Doodler Start EDU Bundle Set. These 3-D doodler pens will help my students learn about geometry, engineering, and creativity. The project will also require my students to work cooperatively as they create their geometric art shapes.
I teach a mixed age group, and I find tinkering and engineering projects to be the most effective way to reach all learners.
Projects, such as this 3-D Dooler Pen Project, enable students to plan a creation and then explore the best way to make that initial vision into reality. I can see both the confidence of my students increasing and their making skills. These STEAM projects help my students to develop resiliency, as they are required to work through unsuccessful creations and modify their thought processes about their projects.
