Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is where the foundation of all formal academic experiences begin. My students come from diverse economic and cultural backgrounds. Many receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status and are raised in single parent households. Their development of self-esteem and confidence is crucial at this stage. They are beginning to learn the importance of responsibility and independence. Through all these challenges, my students are eager to come to school and learn new things.
Kindergarten means “child’s garden” and that is what I hope to build for my students; a learning environment that is rich and meaningful, where learning is achieved through innovation and creativity.
My students are creative, energetic, and extremely intelligent. They are always eager to learn something new. I am so proud to be their kindergarten teacher.
My Project
STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) is the new wave of scientific thinking that unites subject areas. It allows our students to develop high order thinking skills that expand their mind and leave a lasting impression which is vital for such young minds in Kindergarten. These STEAM resources require the children to expand their thinking to create a new object or solve challenges. I am requesting materials that will make my Kindergarten students think critically and creatively and may result in future scientists, architects, engineers, etc. I am requesting STEAM materials for my students to explore building and engineering concepts. The Fairy Tales Problem Solving Kit and building materials I am requesting will help my students think critically and expand their learning.
These materials will allow my young students to develop STEAM skills needed for success in grade school and beyond.
With these building sets, my early learners will explore challenging situations and find solutions using familiar concepts. They will have the opportunity to learn through trial and error while using higher order thinking skills to solve challenges. Please help us bring these STEAM items into our classroom.
