This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My middle school STEAM classes focus on the engineering design process and helping students become Makers and Creators. They use & learn areas of science, technology, engineering, art, and math to enrich their designs. As they progress from 6th to 8th graders, the hope is to build upon their new skills and add new technologies and skills to further their designs.

Legos provide hands-on learning opportunities for students, which lead to new brain connections and higher-level thinking skills.

Lego has a 7-week unit using BricQ Motion Prime Legos, encompassing Newton's three laws of motion and Engineering Design Principles. This unit introduces science principles that I do not already cover in other areas of my curriculum and which perfectly fit into the Science and Engineering aspects of STEAM. The activities in this Unit are meant to be fun and engaging while strengthening students' logic, strategy, and spatial development and having them explore scientific principles in a new way.

I have received another grant, which provided me with several BricQ Lego sets. Your donation toward this project will enable me to have enough kits for my larger class sizes.
