My students (or my kiddos as I often refer to them) love hugs and high-fives, laughter, interactive activities, and, of course, Fortnite dance offs. For many of them, school is an outlet of expression. Within our classroom is where they can fully express themselves through science, math, reading/writing, and art.
Our school is nestled in the heart of a lively city on the west side of Central Florida.
The students who are part of our school environment come from a variety of backgrounds. Many of our families struggle to provide for themselves. Our school strives to be the safe place that our students can come to.
Each child in my classroom (as well as our school) are seen as leaders. They are not just learners, but leaders-in-training. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies for each different learning style. In addition, we also provide education in being an effective leader. Therefore, the students are given opportunities to showcase their leadership skills throughout the year in various ways. It is our belief that change in our community starts right in our classrooms; our children are the future.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting already have a home. What that means is that these are materials or supplies for Science Inquiries or STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art and Math) project based learning.
The donations to this project will help my students receive a more interactive and hands-on year of science.
These materials specifically are for the first nine weeks of science inquiry and STEAM lessons. The students are very excited to learn new things in a hands-on way.
By implementing more hands-on learning within the Science field, students will finally see the value of being a scientist and feel more engaged during the lessons. Having engaged students in any subject is extremely important, but even more so in Science due to a majority of projected careers having something to do with the science industries.
