My Students

Students at my school are truly unique and amazing! They come from challenging homes and lifestyles and require a lot of time, love, and support.

Our school is a Title 1 building and the kids in my classroom come from struggling families that often have very little and many are lacking the drive and love for learning as well as the resources to come to school with classroom materials.

Students in my classroom come to school unprepared for learning. Many are unmotivated and without the skills needed to know how to be successful in a school environment. They don't know how to organize materials, sit for periods of time and overall maintain focus.

It is my job and my goal to help them find ways in which to do that. It is also my job to make sure all materials are supplied for all students and that the learning opportunities foster the greatest opportunities to grow as a child and learner.

My Project

In a fast paced world, where technology has become a huge part of not only entertainment but learning as well, students still need opportunities to develop their thought process and learning through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) opportunities.

STEAM education helps to bridge the ethnic and gender gaps sometimes found in math and science fields.

STEAM education breaks the traditional gender roles. Research suggesting that integrating these subjects is beneficial for students and makes sense for the way kids learn.

STEAM lessons are usually hands-on and exploratory and helps prepare students for the real world, where professionals often use multiple disciplines and creative approaches to solving a problem.

I want to use a hands on, focus on fun approach to deliver opportunities for students’ curiosity about the world and their love of learning through play opportunities to solve “real world” challenges that are relevant to their lives. Hands on, experiential learning and practical inquiry process are many of the reasons I want to offer my students STEAM education. Students will be able to use legos, blocks, magnetic pieces and a varies of manipulates to problem solve visual solutions to real world problems. Students will be able to challenge themselves and explore solutions in a hands on approach, rather than paper pencil, to determine what will and won't work and develop new solutions through exploration while using these many reusable materials. Learning by doing is essential to their education and STEAM activities provide hands-on and minds-on make learning lessons for students.
