My students need a WaterColorBot, Hack Your Notebook Kit, a LittleBits electronics set and a LilyPad Design kit to explore the power of STEM + CS + Electronics.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students pledge to push the boundaries of science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and computer science.
We are a Title I school in the heart of Texas.
My students are inquisitive, energetic and curious. We are a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics magnet middle school. My students want to grow up to be computer scientists, geologists, environmental engineers, mechanical engineers, roboticists and the like.
My Project
These resources will truly show my students that STEAM+CS = learning and fun! My students will be able to use the WaterColorBot to explore the intersection between computer science, engineering and art as they use the Snap programming language to design and program images to be brought to life through the WaterColorBot. The WaterColorBot also provides a dramatic example of a "kid invention" brought to life. The Hack Your Notebook kits and the LittleBits kit will allow my students to explore design and electronics on creative paper and prototyping projects. The LilyPad Design kit will allow my students to apply their electronics and engineering knowledge to the fabulous world of e-textiles.
"You have teenagers thinking they're going to make millions as NBA stars when that's not realistic for even 1 percent of them.
Becoming a scientist or engineer is."-Dean Kamen
While some of my students may go on to greatness as professional athletes or entertainers, I believe that they should all be equipped with the skills to experience STEM Success. Supporting this project will help to make this happen.
