We are a Title I school as well as a California Distinguished School and a Schools To Watch Model Middle School. My students are used to working hard and rising to the challenges they face. This year, I have been given the opportunity to create a brand new class: STEAM. STEAM is the combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
The students in my new STEAM class are creative risk-takers who are ready to innovate and engage through hands-on learning.
Rather than teaching my students what to think, I challenge them to think for themselves and develop creative solutions to real-world problems. My students enjoy exploring and demonstrating their knowledge in unconventional ways, and I am excited to continue feeding their curiosity.
My Project
I am requesting several items that my students will use to build and create circuitry projects in our STEAM class. The Snap Circuits sets will be used as our foundation - they make learning about electronics easy and fun as students assemble different circuitry projects. After exploring and mastering the Snap Circuits, my students will move on to the Chibitronics sticker circuits, which allow for more creative, open-ended designing. The 3V batteries are for the Chibitronics, and the AA batteries are for the Snap Circuits.
These circuitry kits will allow my students to explore electricity in a safe, age-appropriate manner while also developing creative thinking and design strategies.
They will begin with the Snap Circuits, which feature guided instructions, then progress to the Chibitronics for more open-ended design. My ultimate goal is to have my students working with LED lights, but we need to build this foundation first. Thank you for supporting my students' circuitry exploration!
