My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful hands on learning experiences in our science classroom.
STEAM bins are a creative and developmentally appropriate form of engineering for middle school students.
Middle School is the perfect time to introduce the engineering design process through simple STEAM activities because it builds on student’s natural curiosities to create. I want to provide an invitation for children to explore and engineer through play.
My Project
STEAM bins are a wonderful way to encourage learning opportunities that include science, technology, engineering, art and math. All kids should have a chance to try STEAM challenges and Science Experiments.

STEAM Bins are plastic boxes filled with an engineering manipulative of your choice, such as base ten blocks, pattern blocks, play dough, or Popsicle sticks with Velcro. The boxes also contain sets of task cards that picture a variety of basic real world structures to inspire students to build.These materials are needed to fill the bins so students can build, stack, write and draw.
