My Students
I teach math and science core, incorporating hands-on, project-based learning in my classroom. I also teach a speech and technology elective, helping students develop 21st-century presentation skills. My classes incorporate STEM and STEAM skills for engineering.
We incorporate technology into all subjects of my classroom and my goal is to promote as much creative, innovative learning as possible.
Every year of my teaching I have volunteered my time tutoring my students after school, since so many struggle with the rigorous challenges of complex learning concepts. Last year, I created online tutorials for both students and parents. I need additional materials to create an even greater impact on classroom learning and interventions. I want to learn how to incorporate 3D models, diagrams, and engineering into my classroom, encouraging student engagement and achievement. Students are learning technology, but I want them to learn about the engineering as well. We are studying the earth, but I will have them further research sustainable forms of energy, recycling, and human impact.
My Project
My project uses technology supplies that will fuel student creativity and drive projects and innovation. These technology tools will help me promote learning engagement in the classroom and beyond, creating interactive works of art with design skills. Where is the science in art? Students will answer the essential question to investigate innovation and learning as a tool. These supplies will be used to incorporate technology integration, computer concepts, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) activities. Students will design their concepts on the Surface Pro. The tablet covers will replace our current worn out covers on current technology. They will use the tools to design a 3D scientific model and print with our 3D printer. The students will gain much needed support from the learning materials and the innovative lessons will help them develop 21st century learning skills. Students will build amazing scientific models and bring their understanding to life. Students can engage in the design-to-build process for science projects. Students will display their creative talents to learn new skills and create amazing projects.
