Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a wonderful group of First Graders this year. My students are excited to see what the day brings and enjoy learning! I am teaching in a Title 1 school in which 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
As First Graders, they are very inquisitive and love being creative.
It is my job to create 21st century learners that can show, prove and express their learning in a variety of ways. These are important skills to instill in my students at such a young age. These are the skills that they will carry with them throughout their entire school career.
My Project
I want to give my students the opportunity to learn through play and show their creativity in a small group setting. This will encourage my students to use their imagination, as well as provide them with an extention to show and prove their learning.
The Osmo games, magna tiles, and Legos are interactive, hands-on activities that can be used in a variety of ways and lessons.
I want to foster a love of learning.
Many of my students do not have access to interactive toys and manipulatives at home. This will give them more opportunities for meaningful play and learning.
