Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Our school qualifies for one hundred percent free lunch for all of our students. A majority of our students face very difficult home lives each day. They come to school for a safe place that guarantees them food while they are there. School provides consistency with routines, schedules and supportive teachers.
I believe that a student's education is very important, but I care about the well-being of my students more than anything.
They will use their education throughout their lives and they will also become citizens of our community. It is important to teach children what it means to be a part of a community and how they can help their community. It all starts with a classroom community. Inside my four walls, my students will know that I care about them, that they are safe, and how to help each other in our classroom community.
My Project
I am asking for these desks to be able to eventually get a classroom set to match. I like how they are spacious, yet don't take up much room. My classroom is not very big and so having these desks would be a big blessing.
Children tend to work better when they have a space to call their own.
This isn't to say that having children share tables is always a bad thing, and it does work for some, but having desks to provide for those that need an alone space without taking up the majority of the classroom would be great!
