Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a group of fifth-grade students who are highly energetic and eager to learn something new every single day.
My students always try their best despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
Over 85% of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students do not all have the same opportunities at home and thus need to be exposed to as many opportunities as possible at school.
My Project
How do you stay up-to-date with current world news? Maybe by watching the news on television, reading the newspaper, or an online article. In our classroom, we love to read about news that is happening around the world. The best and most fun way for us to learn about world news is through Scholastic News. Also, when we use Scholastic News we are working on reading, comprehension of grade-level material, social studies, and writing all at once!
Scholastic News is the perfect source for growing minds to read and learn about what is happening all around the world.
Also included in this grant is a toner cartridge so that I can securely and privately print sensitive student information. A cozy chair to be used as an alternate seat for challenged students, books to enhance my library with many reading levels, and large yellow balls to use in as a science lesson on the phases of the moon.
