Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a Title I, 6-12 school, in the South Bronx. They come from all different backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. One hundred percent of the students receive free lunch. In the ICT class, I have students with special needs, and it is important to have multiple access points to reach all students in a class.
The majority of my students come in with very low test scores in both ELA and math, but when they graduate high school, they are at or exceeding grade level.
Students meet the social and emotional needs with the support of ICT teachers, school support, and after-school activities. Students are college and career ready when they graduate from school.
My Project
The materials in this project will primarily be used to help students stay safe in the classroom. Students will be able to have their individual refill container so that they can have access to hand sanitizers as they are traveling to and from schools. They will be provided with masks and gloves so that they are protected and have a new set on a daily basis.
The important thing is to make sure every child is safe.
We can depend on the school to provide students with supplies, but we need to have enough supplies for our students so that it is readily available whenever it is needed. It is the responsibility of everyone to make sure that students are in a safe environment.
