As you can imagine, as a coach at a small school in a rural community, our athletic department's budget is very small. It is necessary that we supplement this budget through fundraising efforts. Our weight room serves all athletes of all sports and has not had many updates in the past 15 years. It is time for an overhaul! We are starting with the basics: equipment to keep our athletes healthy and safe. Our athletes range from those that are new to their sport, to athletes that have been named All-State and have been offered college scholarships.
The student-athletes representing our school understand the importance of strength training in getting an edge in their sport!
Our goal is to equip these athletes with the tools they need to succeed on and off the field. We are not just trying to improve athletically, but in all avenues of life. The weight room helps build confidence that can be applied throughout both.
My Project
Our school's weight room supports the baseball, basketball, cheer, cross country, football, golf, softball, swimming, track and field, wrestling, and volleyball teams. The equipment specifically being requested will help all athletes using the weight room keep healthy and stay safe.
We would like to add more weight lifting belts and resistance bands so all athletes keep healthy and stay healthy while toning their bodies and minds!
In order to meet the needs of our growing numbers, we are in need of new materials. We currently have only a few small weight lifting belts in our weight room which puts students at risk in wearing bigger belts which do not fit them properly. Resistance bands are used daily in our weight room and our current bands are rapidly falling apart. Resistance bands can be used by all athletes to help provide muscle-building tension and can be used for rehabilitation purposes.
