My Students

Fourth-grade students are very curious about the world around them. They like to do hands-on investigations to help them understand the world better rather than just learning the information from "lectures" or textbook reading and sitting still.

Our 4th graders are an active bunch who study in the midst of the Rocky Mountains.

I love their youthful energy, but they easily lose focus during instruction time. Most are eager to learn, but because of this difficulty paying attention many of them are below grade level and experience other academic challenges. These challenges often leave some of my students feeling frustrated with themselves and with the learning experience. And that is not the outcome I want. Neither do our students nor their parents. My hope is to continue to get 4th graders asking questions and be actively engaged in meaningful conversations.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning and help them to be well-rounded students. An organized classroom helps students focus. Since each student now has their own Chromebook, a Chromebook cart that holds all the computers will help with organization.

My students also have a hard time focussing and seem to always want to move.

The wobble chairs and bouncy bands will help my students move around a little while focussing their mind on learning. The art supplies will help students be able to explore their creative side and help them enjoy school more.

Each of the items in this project will help my students with learning within a Covid world as we are able to organize our classroom, help with focus, and explore art.
