Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work in an amazing school with teachers that go above and beyond for their students. Our students come from a predominately low socioeconomic status. They are eager to learn, but lack the finances for resources. I teach English as a second language, and I want to be able to provide the curriculum resources and manipulatives to help my kids succeed. They learn best with hands on resources, and we need more of these materials in the classroom. Thank you.
My Project
COVID19 has impacted our school community. My students will be at home to be safe and trying to continue their education. I teach grades 5 and 6 English as a second language. My students are boys and girls who are already at a disadvantage because their first language is not English. Their parents and caretakers need the extra help so they can support their children in their homes. This is a high poverty city and now that the students are home, they need basic supplies. I want to be able to give them the pencils, erasers, paper, and books they need while at home.
