Help me give my students white board sets, art supplies and games which will all allow them to use their higher level thinking skills, creativity, language and also have FUN!
It's a very long school year at home.
My students live in a large, urban community. Our families come from all over the world and work hard to provide a life for their children. Now that the nail salons, restaurants and similar businesses are closed resources have been, or will soon be exhausted.
My families and learners bring a unique combination of linguistic diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences, physical and emotional needs as well as culture to our classes and our school.
Fifty-seven percent of our learners live in homes where English is not their first language and seventy-nine percent have high needs.
Everyday our families and learners students do their best to learn remotely and for a short time put the realities they live with aside. Everyday they tell me they want to come back to school.
School is closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the 2019-2020 year.
This presents an enormous number of challenges on my learners and their families.
They no longer have access to school supplies, the hands on materials many needed in order to learn or the supplementary resources used as behavioral supports.
The need is great but the benefits from contributions is greater.
My Project
Please help me give my learners materials for home and distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My learners cannot leave their homes in the Boston area. They do not have financial resources to purchase materials online.
My learners need a variety of materials as they grow their minds but also deal with the emotional needs of a child at home 24/7 away from their friends, their school and teachers.
All materials will be sent directly to my learners and their families. All materials will bring joy as well as well as "learning materials" to their homes.
