My first grade classroom at our school has 18 students. Our school is a PreK-1 building. Our building houses two Pre-K, five kindergarten, and five first grade classrooms. It is also a Title I reading and math school in a rural area in southwest Missouri. Our students come from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs. Flexible seating allows for us to meet the diverse needs of our students and allows for student movement to maximize the learning process. The first years of school build the foundation of learning for years to come!
With our early learners coming to us more active everyday, there is a strong need in the classroom for flexible seating to help aid the learning process. These wobble stools will allow for movement to help keep students engaged while learning. On a daily basis I have several active learners who fall out of their chairs or have a hard-time remaining seated. With our ever changing times, the need for student movement and flexible seating is greater than ever. This project would allow my students more choice in their type of seat, which would help them learn their best in their early years of school.
