My Students

I am a reading interventionist and teach for a few reading pull-outs (lowest 25% and projected level 1's and 2's on the FSA), work with Tier 3 kindergarten-2nd graders, and also am in charge of the Teen Trendsetters Program. The students in this program consist of middle schoolers (mentors) and KG-3rd grade students (mentees). All students within my Title I school receive free or reduced-price lunches and are from low-income areas.

My Project

It is very important for our teachers and staff to be protected when they are at dismissal. As teachers and staff greet students for arrival and assist them in getting home safely, they need to be protected from the elements of Florida weather.

Students will be able to huddle together under a large umbrella with teachers as they cross the street to their car/bus/walk home or as they are coming into the school.

As of now, students and teachers run back and forth and while the students only get drizzled on, teachers are soaked (from rain or sweat) by the end of arrival/dismissal and need a change of clothes.
