This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our student-athletes live in crime infested areas of the city. This often makes it difficult for students to attend school. At least 95% of our students dwell in households that receive government assistance. Many students of our students must walk to and from school, even in bad weather.
Numerous students come to school hungry and without basic necessities for school and practice.
All of our students don't have the luxury of parental support. However, our students work hard and they yearn for a better life. My goal is to provide our student-athletes with everything that they need to succeed on and off the field or court.
My Project
Our project "Stay Strong" will afford our student-athletes the opportunity to focus on conditioning, as well as their academics. It will also inspire our athletes to demonstrate determination to succeed in all aspects of their lives. Many of our student-athletes struggle, due to emotional stressors that surround them at home.
When student-athletes have access to basic necessities, they become better students and more determined athletes.
They begin to take initiative in build a foundation for a successful future. Also, they set and accomplish their goals. Hence, their success is inevitable.
