Help me give my students a cool and comfortable classroom with flex seating and some air conditioning so they can focus on learning instead of the heat!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am excited to be moving from fifth grade to sixth grade with my students this year. They are an amazing group of students that I have been lucky enough to teach in second, fifth, and now sixth grade. My school serves students from Kindergarten through eighth grade. We are a Title I school and all our students are eligible to receive free lunches. My students are hardworking and eager to learn. We are moving to a room with very little furniture and no air conditioning. I want to do my best to make the room inviting and comfortable for them.
My amazing students would benefit from some flexible seating options and some fans to make the classroom more welcoming.
Unfortunately, there is not much I can do about the lack of air conditioning and I have purchased two fans, but I would like to get an oscillating fan to help keep everyone as cool as possible. In addition to that, I would like to purchase 3 flexible seating options. Students in the younger grades tend to gather at a carpet. At this age, students need some personal space and options so flexible seating is a great option!
My Project
Fans and flexible seating will help my students stay cool and calm! We are in a classroom with no air and have hard metal chairs. I would like to provide students with some seating options and some fans.
Middle school students have long class periods and flexible seating would help give students a chance to move around the room and refocus on their work.
Giving students fans would also help students focus on their work and not the heat. School is supposed to be a safe and welcoming environment so it's important that I do everything possible to make it a place they want to be!
