I have the privilege of teaching 60 preschool students with special needs. They range in age from 3-5 years old and have unique personalities and abilities which create dynamic learning groups! My students work hard every day to improve their communication skills in the classroom. At our school, we work on all aspects of a child's development, fine and gross motor skills, social/emotional development and play. It is important that we have materials that meet the needs of all learners and that those materials can be used for a variety of learning experiences. The toys that I share with students must be engaging and enhance language development. My students want to talk, create, play, laugh, and WORK (if I can make it fun)! These children have a voice that needs to be heard. My students are little, but they have a big future with so much to say!
My Project
Children need strong communication skills to interact with their peers in play and structured class activities. These materials motivate students to initiate, sustain and problem solve in play. Student will learn to talk with one another, regulate their emotions and generalize new skills.
Students who can use strong communication skills to regulate emotions in times of crisis will have a positive impact in their classrooms, school buildings and in our community.
Learning happens when young children are having FUN. These materials promote creativity, team building and FUN! Young children will learn new ideas from each other while having FUN together!
