Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade at a Title I school in South Florida. We have a large multicultural population. In addition to English a few of the languages my students speak at home are Spanish, Portuguese, and Haitian-Creole.
My students are like most six year olds.
They come to school everyday curious and eager to learn. They want to make friends, play and learn. However most also come to school hungry. They get free breakfast and lunch at my school and also on Friday's receive a backpack with food to get them through the weekend.
My Project
My project request is for physical education equipment. When the children are looking forward to recess they are actively engaged in the classroom. The sports equipment will give the children something to look forward to playing with, which will in turn keep them motivated in the classroom. We need physical education equipment, such as hoops and cup speed stacks, to keep them active and out of trouble!
Kids are so stressed out today.
I want to give them an outlet to get their stress out. Recess or fit kids time should be FUN for children and something they look forward to. Happy, healthy stress free children make for more productive children in the classroom and really this is what we all want!
