My Students
I have the pleasure of working with an intelligent, goofy, big-hearted group of 11th graders this year. They are curious and eager to learn more about the world and all that it has to offer.
My students are mostly from the community, but hail from all parts of New York.
Our school makeup is about 75% Hispanic, 10% Black, and 15% other. Most of our students have not had ample opportunity to leave their communities and we, as their teachers, believe it is crucial expose them to as many experiences as possible in order to aid their growth and learning.
My Project
All year, our 11th graders have been learning about United States history in order to better understand our country's present. In this course, we have and continue to answer questions such as, "What does it mean to be American?", "Is America really a Democracy?", "Is the United States really a 'melting pot'?" as a means to investigate our country's history. In order to wrap up the year, we thought it would be fitting to take our students on a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We cannot do this without your help! Please aid us in raising money to provide our students with this wonderful experience! Thank you!!
