Help me give my students have the opportunity to have hands on experiences in the classroom. They will be able to create, explore and play with stations such as keyboards, patterning and stories.
This project will help students in K-5 have opportunities to be calm music makers. They will have the chance to sing along with folk music and tap with the rhythm of the dancers. The enrichment of folk song literature in the music room is vital to all. Singing songs over and over again helps solidify reading skills and is comforting to students of all ages. Many of these songs are well loved by our students already but we just don't have the books available for them to take home, re-read or sing along with. Our school is a diverse community with many students living in poverty. We are located in the heart of a busy city but we are a smaller neighborhood school. We have many students who don't speak English as their first language and we have over twenty four different languages spoken at our school. We are a tight knit community and it is a wonderful place to be.
We can't wait to start singing and making music.
My Project
Help the students in the music explore, create, play and discover the joy of sound. They will love rotating through the stations and playing on keyboards, reading song stories and patterning with sea creatures. We love the hands on fun and chance to try out new ideas and create. Hands on fun not only helps develop fine motor skills but it also allows for creative problem solving skills to develop in young minds. Many of the students that will benefit from this project don't have access to these things at home and will help support the lives of young students.
