As a teacher in a Title I school, many of my students come from poverty stricken, low-income homes. Some also are learning English as a second language and others have special needs. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Some of my students live in a shelter or motels. Others are living with other families.
Despite these difficult circumstances, my students come to school eager to learn and explore.
They are fascinated with the new activities, opportunities, and experiences that I can provide for them. They have so much love to share with me and with each other. I want to be able to give them every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
My Project
I am in need of colored card stock, colored paper, and ink to make more centers for my students to grow. Students all learn and grow at different levels and speeds. This means I need to be constantly creating new activities for them to practice what they are learning. Not all my students can do the same activities at the same time. Plus, we are always learning new skills, which makes even more things for us to practice.
Having colored card stock and paper will let me make engaging center activities for small groups of my students to use daily to practice skills they need help with and explore new skills we are just learning.
This will also allow me to reprint and remake older centers that are falling apart. Even with more study card stock and laminating the center pieces, first grades are rough on their materials! However, my students should have the best and you can help me make sure they have clean, new, engaging and interesting activities to fuel their minds and imaginations.
