My students need hands on learning experiences through the use of manipulatives, games, and centers. WE need fraction dice game, other dice games and more.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the privilege of spending another year in 3rd grade! I am so excited to meet my new class. Our school is a Title 1, high poverty and trauma, inner-city school. Where a majority of my students receive reduced or free lunch. Everyday my students bring more than just a backpack to school, but also personal struggles along with their academic strengths and weaknesses. Our classroom is a collaborative and inclusive environment with over half of our students receiving Special Education services from the Exceptional Education teacher who I co-teach with. I believe that with the right environment, materials, and opportunities all of my students can learn and feel successful in my classroom.
My Project
I am asking for a variety of materials to create math and reading centers for my students. These materials will help set my room for success by creating organized and long lasting supplies for my students to learn with.
I have found that students are most engaged when they are able to interact with the content in a hands on and interactive way.
These materials will help create stations that do that. I am asking for laminating sheets, cardstock paper, and rings to create task card packs that will withstand a lot of wear and become dry erasable. Clipboards will allow my students to be more flexible in their learning environment and create space for lessons outside, on the carpet, and anywhere! Storage containers and hanging folders will allow me to organize my stations for easier student access and visibility. I have found being prepared and organized makes things in my classroom run smoother and more enjoyable for my students.
I am also asking for materials to be used as stations or be part of the learning game center. This includes some math dice games, a fraction game, and base ten block manipulatives that are magnetic. Headphones and a shoe pocket to organize is also included as we use the computer station everyday but many of my students don't have headphones. Headphones will allow my students to access learning games at all times without disrupting the rest of their classmates.
