Mrs. Morin from New Bedford MA is requesting Technology through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Starving for Technology

My students need this projector because ELL students need visuals. This tool will allow me to reach all my students keeping them engaged.

My Students

My students are the best! That's what I tell them everyday! They are curious, excited, respectful, and grateful. They know their parents risked everything for their education and they take it seriously! My students just need more visuals to take them to the top, right where they belong!

Our Classroom is a Sheltered English Immersion(SEI)classroom.

Our school is in an extremely high needs, high poverty inner city area. This classroom was just opened this year extending the schools SEI program to the second grade. I am a first year teacher trying my very best to give my students what they deserve, a solid foundation. My students are trying to master the English language as well as conquer the second grade curriculum. My students are so passionate about learning despite all of the challenges that they face . They come to school ready to learn even though they are missing parts of their families back in their native country. Many of the families are extremely poor even though all adults are working multiple jobs. I want my students to reach for the stars. I work on their confidence levels daily and let them know I will NEVER give up on them. Having the in focus will give my students the visuals they need to succeed.

My Project

This projector will allow me to make connections for my students to the English language. It will be extremely helpful to show students the English language visually. The projector will also allow the students to share their work, allowing them to see what is expected. It will help me reach all of my learners whether they are auditory or visual. Being able to make connections and make ideas concrete with the projector is invaluable. We only have one working computer in my classroom so it will allow me to really make those important connections. ELL students need these visuals so they can transfer knowledge from one language to the next.

My students need visuals for everything.

They need to make connections using pictures. They need to see me model how to do many things before they can become independent. The in focus projector will allow me to project things so the whole class can see exactly what the lesson is about. I can make those connections with pictures and videos by connecting my laptop. This will free up more time for learning. The in focus projector is a tool my classroom desperately needs.
