My students need STEM activities that make them use their logic and problem-solving abilities. Hands on construction engineering for my younger students is a great start to STEM introduction.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Teaching technology in Elementary school is an amazing experience. I have students as young as five and as old as thirteen. I get to watch the magic of learning at every level. As a veteran teacher, I have found over the years that it is so important to help every individual student learn in as many different ways as possible. My younger students are so curious and interested in trying anything new.
This year I would like to try to expand the experiences of my younger students in the areas of STEM learning.
I started with some new coding activities they have never seen before and they soared. Every student was so engaged and didn’t want to stop learning. I hope to continue to create new engaging experiences with them this year.
My Project
STEM or STEAM is the buzz in education. Science, technology, math and even the arts are addressed because they are part of our curriculum. The engineering piece of STEM is not always easy to focus on in the school setting, especially with younger students.
This year I want to make sure our younger students get opportunities to have hands on experiences with simple science and engineering.
With the kits and games I have chosen I will be able help students work together and use logical reasoning to create projects. I hope this will extend into their other curricular areas as well.
I am excited to do something new and engaging with my students. I know with your help we can make our STEM experiences happen.
