Mrs. Krumgalz from Brooklyn NY is requesting Educational Kits & Games through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Starting With S.T.E.A.M.

My students need 2 Lego Mindstorm construction kits to take part in S.T.E.A.M. learning opportunities.

My Students

I am a Middle School Science teacher in a high needs NYC area. I service English Language Learners within the seventh grade. We are in need of 3 LEGO MINDSTORM kits.

My students have to overcome many language barriers, learn the English language and required school concepts with little or no help from their parents.

Their parents are unable to help them in the educational area due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the English language, as well as knowledge of these concepts. My students work hard and often support their mothers and fathers by running household errands and watching younger siblings. Unfortunately, another aspect my student share is that the majority (+65%) of the families in my school are struggling financially.

My Project

I am requesting 2 LEGO MINDSTORM kits for my middle school science classes. LEGO MINDSTORMS Education enables students to design, build, program, and test their solutions based on real-life robotics technology. With the selected EV3 Core Sets and a single license of the EV3 Software, students will be able to: design and build programmable robots using motors, sensors, gears, wheels and axles, and other technical components. As a result, students grasp an understanding of two-dimensional drawings to create three-dimensional models. Through the engineering process, students will design, build, test, troubleshoot, and revise designs to improve robot performance. My students will gain practical, hands-on experience using mathematical concepts such as estimating and measuring distance, time, and speed. They will also enhance their communication skills by effectively using scientific and technical language to share experimental findings and results.

Technology skills are highly valued in this computer driven society.

Please support and provide these 2 LEGO MINDSTORM education kits for my current and future, wonderful, determined, and young students that need a little financial help.
