I am a first year teacher at a Title I school where a majority of the students who are enrolled receive free and/or reduced lunch. A high percentage of the students come from low-income housing around the area. Even with the difficult situations that some of these students have faced at such a young age, they still come to school with spirit. There have a variety of backgrounds and personalities, but the students all have one thing in common--they come to school excited and ready to learn!
My Project
Each year I need to buy these school supplies for my students. These supplies are important because the students use them everyday. We use the folders to send home homework and communicate notices to their parents. My kindergarten students also need bigger pencils to help them learn how to write with the correct pencil grip.
We teach the students how to illustrate beautiful pictures to match their words, so colored pencils are an important part of our learning.
I also have many students with different backgrounds in my class so having multicultural crayons are essential so the students can feel comfortable when drawing themselves, or others in their pictures. By donating to this project you are contributing to help a child start their school year off ready to learn!
