I am a teacher in a Head Start classroom that consists of 3-5-year-olds. The majority of the children in our program come from low-income families. Head Start offers children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years a safe, friendly, and educational environment for them to learn during this very crucial time when their brains are developing more rapidly than any other time in their life. I want to offer these children the best that I can because they deserve the best.
The children in my classroom are the future, please help me to prepare them to the best of our ability using the best materials available to them.
Our school provides breakfast, lunch and a snack for each child daily, between the basic needs of the children and funding to keep the school running sometimes money falls short. Unfortunately, the money must be cut somewhere and funding for new classroom materials may suffer. My hope is to raise these funds to give my kids everything they deserve and more!
My Project
The beginning of the year is the time where we make our first impressions to both the children and their families. The relationships that start now are the ones that will help create a bond that will allow the children and families to succeed. My goal with this project is to provide the children and their families with a welcoming environment where they feel comfortable and are excited to return to each and every day. Our new school does not have air conditioning, so with these fans, I will be able to keep the classroom cooler and allow the children to focus on learning instead of being uncomfortable in the heat. This is also a new classroom to me and I want to make sure the children know they are important, having decor that they can be included in is a nice way to make them feel like this will be thier classroom as well. Family involvement is a very important part of our program, parents and guardians are the children's first teachers, so having them involved in the classroom makes the transition to school easy and comfortable. Please help me start the year off right with my new children and their families.
