Our school serves a diverse population of students from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. The budget cuts facing our school district limit the availability of funds for resources to enrich the students' learning experiences.
My students love learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, personalized learning and flexible seating options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are, wherever they are!
My Project
Our school uses flexible seating and personalized learning. It gives students the opportunity to take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them. My students are able to choose from a variety of locations to work. They may choose from different height tables, wobble stools, floor cushions, and lap desks instead of the traditional desks and chairs. They usually make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when sitting at a traditional desk and chair.
The students are not only more engaged in their learning but also less disruptive of their peers when they are able to choose a workspace that works for them.
These portable lap desks and floor chairs will create more comfortable and functional workspaces and the ideal setting to read one of these good books.
