My students are truly inspiring. I teach third grade in a small school district located in central Ohio. Many of the students that enter my classroom every day are eager to learn and love to share social learning experiences with each other. I am truly lucky to share so many learning opportunities with my kids!
I strive to create a classroom full of readers who realize how exciting and life-changing a book can be.
I often find that although I have students who do not have as much as one book at home, who have little support with homework and studying, and who enter the school year with a cynical outlook on how the year will go, every student has a special and unique reading and learning interest. There is a genre, series, or topic that intrigues every student because I truly believe that each and every one of my students are special and deserve to learn and demonstrate knowledge as they see fit.
My Project
Every now and then, teachers come across a book that fits perfectly with the age group they teach, their own personal interests, and the theme of their classroom. I am so excited that I have found a wonderful book I know my students will love to read each year!
'The Wild Robot' is a wonderfully engaging, meaningful, and exciting book that will engage my whole class starting on the first day of school.
I am requesting a donation for a whole-class set of these books so every student can hold their own book, refer back to their book to complete comprehension, vocabulary, and hands-on activities that connect to the book, and so they can take ownership of their reading and the skills they are developing!
In my classroom, my goal is to take students on an adventure every day and engage them through powerful books that peak their interest. I have never had the opportunity to begin the school year in this way, but the class-set of this book would allow me to do this from the first day of school!
