Help me give my students a broad collection of rocks and minerals to help their study of the Earth and the materials that make it up in a hands-on manner, including rarer, hard materials like topaz and corundum.

My Students
I work with an amazing group of upperclassmen students at Nacogdoches High School. They come from many backgrounds, and so many of them show an interest in Earth Science, but haven't had the greatest opportunity to explore this subject in depth.
My Project
The goal of these supplies are to allow Nacogdoches High School's newly created Earth and Space Science class have a strong collection of samples to give my students a chance to have a lot of hands-on access to a wide range of real rock and mineral samples.
This is the first year this class is being offered, and due to the Coronavirus pandemic, I only have a limited number of samples I was able to borrow from some of my colleagues at a nearby university.
This makes it challenging to give all of my students a chance to get hands-on experience in learning to identify common rocks and minerals. This topic loses significant value without the ability for students to really dig in and handle samples. Pictures of samples with descriptions pales in comparison to actually handling the materials being discussed. Quartzite and Marble (both metamorphic rocks) might look very similar in pictures, but if you handle them and look at them up close, the differences start to become clear!
This collection will set up this course with enough materials to last for years and years to come. We should have minimal further purchases to replace samples that get broken down by repeated handling or slowly get lost over time, or even to just expand variety of samples.
